VIDEO: ‘Slumdog’ Star Gets New Home
11-year-old Azhar Ismail, one of the young stars of the Oscar-winning movie “Slumdog Millionaire”, has moved into a new apartment in Mumbai, which was bought by the makers of the Oscar-winning film after his slum home was demolished.
Director Danny Boyle and Slumdog producer Christian Colson will transfer the £30,000 one-bedroom apartment to Azhar’s name when he turns 18, provided he finishes school. The filmmakers also set up a trust to secure an education, housing and a living allowance for Azhar and his co-star Rubina Ali, nine. They are currently searching for a new home for Rubina, whose home was also demolished.

ok…am i the only one who doesn’t get why these kids remained in poverty after being in a film that did so well financially? i mean, great, these white men have saved yet another brown man…but if he’d been paid correctly, had his contract been on the up and up..this should not have even happened. We don’t hear reports of hollywood’s own getting thrown out of their homes after being at “work.” Oh well, guess I should say “Thank ya massuh! Thank ya fa still being soooo good to us brown and black folks!!” Then put on my BIG TOOTHY SMILE to show how grateful….WTFE!!
