Damn, Ashanti was lookin’ all types of right at the 2009 VH1 Hip Hop Honors at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on September 23rd.
The year marks the 70th Anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz,” and Ashanti, who played Dorothy in the recent off-Broadway production of “The Wiz” and appeared in the 2005 “Muppets Wizard of Oz,” has recorded her version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” which you can listen to via the player below. The track was released on iTunes today (Thursday).
Ashanti will also take part in emerald green lighting of the Empire State Building to celebrate the anniversary on Thursday evening.
