VIDEO: Hugo Chavez Likes The Smell Of Hope
Sometimes I watch racists Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly and I wonder if America, the media and corporate sponsors would give a person of color the same airtime to spew their hate.
Not to long ago, several major networks gave Ann time to diss 911 widows as well as explain why black babies should be aborted.
Last week, Rush said school buses should be segregated.
Glenn calls Obama a racist against whites.
We all know how Bill feels about the coloreds, no need for me to go there.
So I ask you, dear reader, do you think a person of color could go on TV and say white babies should be aborted? Could a person of color receive major network airtime, sponsors and media support to spew their radical ideas against the system or white folks?
Hell, everytime Reverend Wright coughs the media is ready to lynch him, but they keep the white racists pockets phat.
Am I wrong in my assessment?
Last night I watched Glenn Beck, because I like to stay abreast on what the angry white man is up to, and he addressed the backlash he’s received from pretending to boil a frog on his show earlier this week. Glenn proved to his viewers and haters that the frog boiling incident was fake. He read a very kind, supportive letter he received from those animal killers over at PETA. As he was reading PETA’s response to his faux frog boiling incident, I couldn’t help but to think “Hmm, now if this was a person of color accused of killing animals on live TV, PETA would be outside the studio with a bag of feathers and a tub of tar.”
But, as I get angry thinkin’ about the systemic undercover racism that I’m forced to witness anytime I turn on the television, I’m provided with a bit of comfort when I hear a colored man talk that real shit. You remember when Hugo Chavez called George W. Bush the devil? In the clip above, he provides a humorous follow-up at the UN General Assembly on Thursday. Chavez recalled his infamous 2006 remarks at the UN about smelling “sulfur” after then-President George Bush spoke – a suggestion that Bush was the devil. Yesterday, he sniffed around the green, marble rostrum and declared, “I don’t smell sulfur anymore – it’s gone. Now, it’s the smell of something else – it’s the smell of hope,” he said, referring to Obama. “You have to have hope in your heart.”
Unfortunately for Hugo, only at the UN, or via his own platform, could he say such things. Had he said this on American soil, in front of American news cameras, he would have been rolled up like a wet burrito and tossed on the back of a Minuteman truck.
Am I wrong?
