American Beauty: Guilty
The Nancy Grace Show refers to her as the American Beauty, but the Italians call her a murderous wench, and have sentenced American college student Amanda Knox to 26 years in prison for the 2007 slaying of her roommate Meredith Kercher.
Kercher’s body was found in a pool of blood with her throat slit on Nov. 2, 2007, in the bedroom of the house she shared with Knox.
It took Lady Justice over a year to find the American Beauty and her ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Raffaele Sollecito, guilty. Sollecito was sentenced to 25 years. The pair are expected to appeal against the decision.
Prosecutors alleged that Sollecito held Kercher down while Rudy Guede, a 22-year-old Ivory Coast-born drifter, tried to sexually assault her and Knox stabbed her.
In October 2008 Guede was given a 30-year sentence for the murder after opting for a fast-track trial. He is appealing against his conviction.
