New Music: Mary J. Blige Covers The Led

I’m not sure how I feel about this.

I LOVE Led Zeppelin, and their 1969 classic Whole Lotta Love is one of my iTune’s most played songs. I’m kinda selfish when it comes to my rock stars and therefore I don’t think R&B stars are worthy of covering classic rock tunes. R&B singers should stick with what they know: doing remixes of their own bland songs.

Mary J. Blige has covered The Led’s Whole Lotta Love for the international edition of her Stronger with Each Tear album, which also includes a nearly nine-minute cover of Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven.

Have a listen to Mary’s version via the player below. Your thoughts?

This was the first song I heard when I woke up this morning and I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t make me rock out with my cock, and I’m sure that’s only because I was still coming of out a Zanax induced coma. My enjoyment of this tune doesn’t make the wrong that Mary has done right.

  1. The song sounded too manufactured and studio for me and I didn’t enjoy it. But MJB has a kick-ass band that tours with her and given some freedom I am sure her + the band will play the shit out of it live!!!
