Perhaps Kate Winslet will leave Sam Mendes an ounce of originality once she packs up their memories and exits out the Divorcee Door. Sounds like Sammy’s career has taken the unfortunate turn down Remake Road.
A new Wizard of Oz is on the horizon with Sam Mendes the front runner to direct Oz The Great and Powerful, based partly on the L. Frank Baum books, and Robert Downey Jr. eyeing the starring role as the Wizard.
Oz The Great And Powerful could take the classic into darker and more experimental territory. Darker and more Experimental, I like the sound of that!
Other Wizard of Oz movies in the works right now include New Line’s straight adaptation The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Warner Bros.’ darker, comic-booky Oz, which sends Dorothy’s granddaughter to Oz to fight evil.
