Dirty Ho of the Day: Dove

Keep in mind, Dove is the proud manufacturer of skin-lightening products used mostly in Asian countries and India.

Do a bit of research and you’ll learn that Dove HATES dark skin and the company loves to capitalize on dark women who have low self-esteem and live in countries where dark skin is considered evil and unworthy.

So while the Sheeple will look at this ad and only see how to go from CRACKED-to-SMOOTH skin, those of us who are AWAKE and familiar with Dove’s tactics see this ad for what it really is: more racial propaganda designed to maintain the myth that dark skin is bad while light skin is most desirable.

As Jezebel puts it, “Bye-bye black skin, hello white skin! (Scrub hard!)”

I SEE you, Dove.

UPDATE:

Dove has defended its ad, issuing the following bullshit statement to Gawker:

“We believe that real beauty comes in many shapes, sizes, colors and ages and are committed to featuring realistic and attainable images of beauty in all our advertising. We are also dedicated to educating and encouraging all women and girls to build a positive relationship with beauty, to help raise self-esteem and to enable them to realize their full potential. The ad is intended to illustrate the benefits of using Dove VisibleCare Body Wash, by making skin visibly more beautiful in just one week. All three women are intended to demonstrate the “after” product benefit. We do not condone any activity or imagery that intentionally insults any audience.”

It should be carefully considered that Dove doesn’t market its “White Is Right” skincare products in the US as heavily as they do in other countries. DO THE RESEARCH!!
